How to choose a Lash Extension Artist:

We put ourselves in your shoes (Part 2)

While writing part one, I asked Lovella themselves to weigh in on the topic and give us some tips and tricks from their point of view. Lovella is highly respected in the industry and renowned for teaching based on lash health and safety. Candice, the academy director as well as their CEO, Tania Schroeder gave us the following industry inside information

‘’Lash extensions are growing in popularity, and for good reason too – waking up with perfectly curled, smudge free lashes is just the best feeling!

Unfortunately, the lash industry is poorly regulated, and so you will need to do research to help you decide on a lash artist? Regrettably, it’s not as simple as conducting an online search for “eyelash extensions near me” and selecting the cheapest option.  This may save you time, but no bargain is worth experiencing damaged lashes due to faulty application techniques and unsafe materials.

As with any cosmetic procedure, there are risks involved which makes selecting a skilled lash artist so important. So, what should you look for?

  • Quality lash artists have strong technical skills.  Eyelash extensions can make you look and feel flawless, however there are some associated risks – especially if this service is performed poorly. Only entrust your eyes to a professional who is trained and certified with a reputable eyelash extension company – Going to someone who has not gone through professional training or going to someone who is inexperienced can have severe consequences.
  • Be prepared to invest in artistry. Quality eyelash extensions are an expense. So, when evaluating a lash artist, don’t be afraid to request client photos. Weigh a lash artist’s pricing against the level of artistry.
  • Prioritize safety when considering an eyelash extension professional.  Select an artist that cares about your safety just as much as your beauty.  Seek out certified professionals who are trained in safe, hygienic application techniques.  All Lovella Pro Artists perform complimentary consultations, as well as assess the health and capacity of client’s natural lashes before performing a service.  Lovella artists are taught the hand-fan technique – allowing artist to hand-fan each volume extension according to how much weight your natural lashes can reasonably bear. Though your lash look is customized to suit your style and preferences, preserving the health and integrity of your natural lashes should always be your Lash Artist’s top priority.

Just like you would with a hairstylist, research who you want to go to and how long they have been working as a technician. Look at before-and-after photos, read reviews and always make sure they are lash-certified (an attendance certificate does not cut it).”

I was so excited to be able to provide you guys with this part two, as truly Lovella is a brand and leader in the industry that I will always look up to. I hope some of these pointers have helped you and have also helped break down some of the misconceptions out there. Ladies, lashing is hard! We are always growing and learning and in practice we as artists get better and better. Lashing with a conscience is the name of the game for providing healthy sets that don’t damage!

With Love
